HSE Jobs This Week: Live Vacancies Open to All Applicants

Last updated: 7 November 2026 | Jobs last checked: 6 November 2026 on each vacancy page at about.hse.ie. Process checked against HSE recruitment pages. All closing times are Irish time.

Not every HSE job is open to people who do not already work for the health service. This page lists the HSE jobs we have checked on the HSE’s own vacancy pages. Each one is marked Open to all, so you can apply even if you are not an HSE employee.

Jobs that have closed drop off the lists automatically. Below the lists you will find how HSE recruitment works in 6 steps, what time each advert really closes where you live, and who the HSE can sponsor for a permit.

Quick answer

  • Where to look: every HSE job is on about.hse.ie. Set Advertisement Type to Open to all.
  • Permit sponsorship: only for permanent roles on the Critical Skills Occupations List. Nurses and midwives are on it. Healthcare assistants, porters and admin roles are not.
  • How to apply: exactly the way the advert says. The HSE decides from your application form, not your CV.
  • Deadline: the closing date and time are in Irish time, with no exceptions.

How HSE Recruitment Works in 6 Steps

The HSE recruitment route in 6 steps: eligibility, registration, finding a vacancy, applying, interview and panel, clearances and contract
The HSE recruitment route in 6 steps. Source: HSE recruitment pages.
  1. Check the HSE can hire you. EEA, Swiss and British citizens do not need an employment permit. Everyone else does, and the HSE can only sponsor one if the role is on the Critical Skills Occupations List.
  2. Get your professional registration. The HSE can only employ a regulated health professional who is registered with the relevant regulator in Ireland, for example NMBI for nurses and midwives or the Medical Council for doctors. Registration can take time, so start early.
  3. Find an Open to all vacancy. On about.hse.ie/jobs/job-search, set Advertisement Type to Open to all, then choose a category such as Nursing and Midwifery. Note the reference, the closing date and time, and the job specification.
  4. Apply the way the advert says. It is usually an application form sent by email or an online form. Do not rely on a CV, and do not attach references with your application.
  5. Shortlisting, interview and panel. Your form is checked against the eligibility criteria and ranked. Interviews are usually with a board of 3 people. If you pass, you may be placed on a panel and may have to wait for an offer.
  6. Clearances, contract and start. You pay for police certificates from each country you lived in. Permit and visa applications follow your formal offer, and you start within 3 months of that offer if you are joining from outside the HSE.

Our full guide, how to apply for HSE jobs from abroad, explains every step in detail, including how to answer competency questions.

When Does the Advert Really Close Where You Live?

The HSE gives closing times in Irish time. Ireland is on UTC+0 until 28 March 2027, then UTC+1. A typical closing time of 12:00 noon Irish time is:

HSE closing time of 12:00 noon Irish time converted for the Philippines, Pakistan, India, Nigeria and US Eastern
12:00 noon Irish time in other countries (our time conversion).
Where you are12:00 Irish time is (winter 2026/27)
Philippines (Manila)8:00 PM the same day
Pakistan5:00 PM
India5:30 PM
Nigeria1:00 PM
US Eastern (New York)7:00 AM

Submit a day early. Emails can take time to arrive and online forms can be slow just before a deadline. The HSE normally confirms receipt of an emailed application within 2 working days.

Can the HSE Sponsor You for a Work Permit?

The HSE says it can only sponsor an employment permit if the role is on the Critical Skills Occupations List. In practice:

  • Nurses and midwives: on the list. See our nursing jobs in Ireland guide.
  • Doctors, pharmacists and many health and social care professionals: many roles are on the list. Check your exact job title. See our doctor jobs guide.
  • Healthcare assistants, porters, cleaners and admin: not on the list, so the HSE cannot sponsor a permit for these roles.

For the permit itself, read our guides to the Critical Skills Employment Permit and the General Employment Permit.

Fake Recruiters and HSE Job Scams

The HSE says all its jobs are advertised on its own jobs page, about.hse.ie. If someone offers you an HSE job through a message, a social media account or an email address that is not the HSE’s, check the vacancy reference on about.hse.ie before you reply. Never pay anyone to get you an HSE job or an interview.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for HSE jobs from outside Ireland?

Yes, for adverts marked Open to all (open to HSE and non-HSE applicants). Check first whether you need an employment permit. The HSE can only sponsor a permit for a permanent role that is on the Critical Skills Occupations List.

Does the HSE accept CVs?

Usually no. The HSE says its decisions are based on what you write on the application form, and some campaigns state that CVs are not accepted. Follow the method in the advert exactly.

Can the HSE sponsor a healthcare assistant from abroad?

No. Healthcare assistants, porters, cleaners and admin roles are not on the Critical Skills Occupations List, so the HSE cannot sponsor a permit for them. Private nursing homes and home-care companies may be able to sponsor a General Employment Permit instead.

What does panel mean in HSE jobs?

A panel is a list of candidates the HSE has approved after interviews. Being on a panel does not always mean an immediate job offer, so you may have to wait.

Who pays for police clearance certificates?

You do. You need a certificate from every country where you lived for 6 months or more since your 16th birthday. For the USA, the HSE asks for an FBI check only.

How long do I have to start after an HSE job offer?

If you are joining from outside the HSE, you should start within 3 months of your formal offer.

Is there a relocation package?

The HSE relocation package is up to €4,710 from outside the EU and up to €4,160 from the EU or UK. It needs a permanent post, or a temporary post of at least two years.

What time do HSE adverts close?

Each advert gives a closing date and time in Irish time. The HSE says no exceptions are made, so submit at least a day early.
