Irish Embassy in Pakistan (2026): Address, VFS Visa Centres & Who Decides Your Visa

Last updated: 30 October 2026 | Checked against the Embassy of Ireland in Pakistan, Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) and VFS Global Pakistan.

Most people searching for the Irish embassy in Pakistan want one thing: to know where to hand in an Irish visa application. The short answer surprises a lot of applicants. The Embassy of Ireland in Islamabad does not take visa files at its counter and does not decide them. Your application is lodged at a VFS Global visa centre, and the decision is made by the visa office in Dublin.

This guide sets out who does what: the embassy’s address and how to contact it, the four Ireland visa centres in Pakistan with their hours, what the whole process costs in euros and rupees, and the mistakes that get Pakistani applications withdrawn before anyone reads them.

Quick answer

The Embassy of Ireland, Pakistan is on Level 6, West Wing, Serena Business Complex, Khayaban-e-Suhrwardy Road, G-5/1, Islamabad, and sees visitors by appointment only. Irish visa applications from Pakistan are made online on AVATS, paid online, then handed in at a VFS Global Ireland visa centre in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi or Mirpur within 30 days. The Dublin Visa Office decides them.

Embassy, VFS or Dublin: Who Does What

Three different organisations touch an Irish visa application from Pakistan, and writing to the wrong one is the most common way applicants lose weeks.

Who does what for an Irish visa from Pakistan: Embassy of Ireland Islamabad, VFS Global visa centres, Dublin Visa Office decides
The embassy, VFS and the Dublin Visa Office each have a different job. Only Dublin decides your visa.
  • The Embassy of Ireland in Islamabad runs Ireland’s relationship with Pakistan and looks after Irish citizens. It handles Irish passports, citizenship queries, marriage formalities for Irish citizens and the authentication of documents. Its visa page sends applicants to the online system rather than to its own counter.
  • VFS Global is a private company appointed as the embassy’s official partner. It books appointments, takes in your passport and documents, collects any biometrics, forwards the file and hands your passport back. It has no say in the outcome.
  • The Dublin Visa Office (ISD Visa Division, 13-14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2) is where a visa officer reads your file and decides it. Pakistan is not covered by any of ISD’s seven overseas visa offices, so Pakistani applications come here.

In practice, that means: questions about appointments, fees at the centre and passport return go to VFS. Questions about the decision itself go to the Dublin Visa Office. The embassy is the right contact if you are an Irish citizen, or for embassy services other than visas.

A few house rules from VFS are worth knowing before you travel to the centre. Mobile phones and tablets are not allowed inside the Pakistan centres, only one cabin-size bag is permitted per applicant, and the centres cannot store prohibited items for you. Only applicants are let in, apart from a parent or guardian with a child and someone helping an elderly or disabled applicant.

What It Costs: Euros and Rupees

Irish visa cost from Pakistan in PKR: 60 euro visa fee plus 66.20 euro VFS fee, total about PKR 41,250 for single entry
Rupee amounts use the VFS rate; your bank rate may differ slightly.
ChargeEurosAbout in PKR
Visa fee, single entry (paid in AVATS)€60about 19,600
Visa fee, multiple entry€100about 32,700
Transit visa fee€25about 8,200
VFS service fee (all centres)€66.2021,640
Typical total, single-entry visa€126.20about 41,250

The rupee figures for the visa fee use the same rate VFS applies to its own fee (roughly PKR 327 to the euro), so treat them as a guide; your card will be charged at the bank’s rate on the day. The VFS fee is the only one quoted officially in rupees. Optional extras such as courier return of your passport cost more, and family members of EU citizens pay a reduced VFS fee of €57.20 (PKR 18,700).

Both fees are non-refundable, including when a visa is refused. Some applicants are exempt from the visa fee, and AVATS will tell you if you are.

How to Apply from Pakistan, Step by Step

7 steps to apply for an Irish visa from Pakistan: AVATS form, online payment, summary form, VFS within 30 days, Dublin decision, passport collection
Book the visa centre the same day you submit the AVATS form.
  1. Get the right paperwork first. For a job, that means an approved employment permit before you apply for the visa. Our guide to the Ireland work visa from Pakistan covers the permit and the document list in detail.
  2. Complete the AVATS form online. Choose the correct visa type and answer every question exactly as your passport and documents show.
  3. Pay the visa fee online. Since 8 December 2025, applications that go to the Dublin Visa Office pay the fee inside AVATS. You get a payment confirmation email with a transaction ID; print it, because it goes in with your documents.
  4. Print and sign the Application Summary Form. It tells you where to hand in your documents and how to book the visa centre.
  5. Book and attend VFS within 30 days. If you do not attend within 30 days of submitting the online form, the application is treated as withdrawn and you have to start a new one. Pay the VFS fee online when booking.
  6. Wait for the Dublin decision. Search your eight-digit application number on the Dublin decision list every Tuesday. Our Ireland visa decision guide explains how.
  7. Collect your passport. VFS emails you when the decision is back at the centre. Collect it in person or pay for courier delivery.

Biometrics: Two Official Sources, Two Answers

This is the one point where the official sources do not line up, and you should know about it before booking. ISD’s biometrics page lists Pakistan, together with China, Hong Kong, India and Nigeria, as a place where visa applicants must give fingerprints each time they apply. VFS Global’s Pakistan page, on the other hand, still says Irish visa applicants are not currently required to give biometrics and may send a representative to submit for them.

The safe approach is to plan to attend in person and follow your Application Summary Form, which tells you what your own application needs. If it asks for fingerprints, a representative cannot give them for you.

Can You Post Your Documents Straight to Dublin?

Only if your Application Summary Form tells you to. ISD’s Dublin page gives the postal address (Visa Division, Immigration Service Delivery, 13-14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2, D02 XK70) for applications the form directs there, and asks that they go by courier or registered post. For most applicants in Pakistan the form points to a VFS centre instead.

Bear in mind that Dublin only posts passports back to addresses in Ireland or the UK. Anyone else has to give an Irish or UK address of a friend or relative, or arrange a courier to collect the passport from Burgh Quay at their own cost. That is one more reason the VFS route is simpler from Pakistan.

Five Mistakes That Cost Pakistani Applicants Time

  • Missing the 30-day window. Book the VFS slot the day you submit the online form, not after you finish collecting documents.
  • Emailing the embassy about a pending visa. The embassy does not hold your file. Track it with VFS and check the Dublin list.
  • Forgetting the payment confirmation. Dublin-bound applications need a copy of the AVATS payment email inside the file.
  • Applying from the wrong country. You apply from where you live legally. A Pakistani living in Dubai goes through the UAE and the Abu Dhabi office, not VFS Pakistan.
  • Paying an agent to “speed it up”. Nobody at the embassy, VFS or a consultancy can move your file up the Dublin queue. Dublin works through applications in date order, and offers to jump the queue are scams.
